What is Spontea?
Spontea ™ is a groundbreaking beverage that unites the elegance of Spain’s finest grapes with the vitality of naturally fermented kombucha. Designed as a refined, low-or non-alcohol alternative to sparkling wines, Prosecco, and Cava, Spontea™ introduces a new means of retaining tradition, celebration, and dining excellence in a changing natural and culture environment. Our first collection features one mono varietal and one coupage sourced from local vineyards: Xarel·lo and a Rosé using Garnacha, Trepat,
and Sumoll.
How Spontea Was Born
The name Spontea is inspired by the ancient Greek word σπονδή (spondee), the libation poured in ritual celebration and shared in moments of peace, victory, and sacred promise. In Greek culture, the spondee was both offering and bond: an act of hospitality, respect for the earth,
and communion between people.In this spirit, Spontea ™ is a new offering for the modern table that retains our traditional forms of celebration with innovative tastes and solutions. Created by chef and designer Kendra Sepulveda, Spontea is made from local grape varieties that are reimagined through kombucha fermentation to offer a new way of experiencing elevated pairings in gastronomy, or else serve cherished moments as solitary bottles.
Inside the bottle
Two expressions, one living base.
The two offerings begin from a Sencha green kombucha, combined with grapes from the Penedès region of Spain (where Spontae originates), and from there take two distinct and unique paths through natural fermentation. The Xarel·lo is bright and structured, with a comparatively drier profile and low sugar, while Rosé is softer, fruit-forward — with a beautiful color — and naturally lower in alcohol. Both complement fine dining and extraordinary moments.
